All About Mrs. Evanson

I believe I have THE BEST job in the world!

This is my 8th year of teaching at Watson and I’m very excited to start another year! Since we will be working together closely this year, I want you to know a little about me.

After high school, I attended Iowa State University and received my Bachelor of Science degree in computer science. I then moved to Schaumburg, Illinois where I worked for GTE Communication Systems developing computer-based business applications. Upon moving to Indiana, I took time off from my job so I could spend more time with my own family. After many hours of volunteer work in the LCSC, I was offered a job at Homan Elementary School in Schererville. While working there part-time, I discovered I had a passion for working with children and decided to pursue my teaching certification. While working to earn my elementary education certification, I was fortunate enough to experience a variety of educational environments at Homan. I worked as an instructional assistant for grades K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I also worked for 2 years as the Title 1 E.S.L. instructor for K-5, and also worked for one year in the full-day kindergarten program with Homan’s Reading Recovery Teacher.

I have three children of my own so I understand both personally and professionally how important a child’s education is and how crucial it is to have a good working relationship among students, parents, and teachers.

I enjoy playing golf, playing the piano, reading, listening to music, and going for long walks. I love the ocean and look forward to vacationing with family and friends.

I am excited to be able to work with each of your children and I will do my best to provide them with instruction, experiences, and an environment that will allow them to obtain the most from each learning opportunity. Thank you for sharing in this opportunity with me.
